The IMG Junior Golf Tour was developed to fill a key niche in junior golf, the IMG Junior Golf Tour provides an elite setting for junior golfers to compete and gain exposure to college golf, professional golf, national junior rankings and athletic excellence.
Held in Florida every December, and open to boys and girls ages 11-18, the the IMG Academy Junior World Florida Challengeis a qualification and invitation only event featuring an international field of over 200 players.News
IMG Junior Golf Tour prepares for Tour Championship at Orlandos Celebration Golf Club
Tour champions will be decided at the season-ending event, May 17-19
The 17-event IMG Junior Golf Tour season will wind down at Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, Fla., May 17-19. It is the second time that Celebration Golf Club will host the IMG Junior Golf Tour, and it marks the first time for the Tour Championship to take place in the Orlando area. The event will feature 90 players, and the entry criteria is basely primarily on the season points standings.
“It’s been an exciting third season for the IMG Junior Golf Tour in terms of participation, new venues and the quality of play, so we can’t wait to see which players come out on top after the Tour Championship,” said Andrew Parr, Tournament Director, IMG Junior Golf Tour. “The Orlando area has been wonderful for our events, so we are looking forward to bringing the Tour Championship to Celebration Golf Club.”
Practice rounds for the Tour Championship will take place on the afternoon of Friday, May 17. The event entry fee includes: the practice round; tournament rounds; a seat at the Championship banquet; and gifts from Under Armour. The Championship banquet will take place at Celebration Golf Club on May 18 at 7:00 p.m.
The Tour Championship was previously hosted by the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club (2011) and the Concession Golf Club (2012). This year’s venue, the Celebration Golf Club, was designed by famed course architects Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. The Tour Championship is ranked by the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard, and players are will compete for elevated AJGA Performance Based Entry status. The Boys and Girls 15-18 Division champions will receive eight performance stars, and the Boys top-five and Girls top-three will receive four performance stars each.
How to apply: The field for the Tour Championship is determined based on entry criteria detailed on the tournament web site. In order to be considered for the event, please email IMGJuniorGolfTour@imgworld.com or call 866-373-0170 by Monday, April 8 at 12:00 p.m. Once all requests are in, the field will be determined based on the selection criteria, and participants will be informed via e-mail of their acceptance into the event. Online registration for accepted players will be open from Wednesday, April 10 – Wednesday, April 17.
