The IMG Junior Golf Tour was developed to fill a key niche in junior golf, the IMG Junior Golf Tour provides an elite setting for junior golfers to compete and gain exposure to college golf, professional golf, national junior rankings and athletic excellence.
Held in Florida every December, and open to boys and girls ages 11-18, the the IMG Academy Junior World Florida Challengeis a qualification and invitation only event featuring an international field of over 200 players.News
IMG Junior Golf Tour Kicks Off 2015-16 Season at Flanders Valley GC
Southeast Kickoff in FL to follow opening weekend of play in NJ.
The IMG Junior Golf Tour began its sixth season this past weekend with a 65-player field at their 2015 Northeast Kickoff event at Flanders Valley Golf Course in Flanders, NJ. This marked the tour’s third visit to Flanders Valley Golf Course, one of the premier public golf courses in New Jersey.
Saturday’s first round saw a light fog hang over the course in the early hours, but the sun was out the entire day with temperatures staying in the mid-to-high 70’s to make for great course conditions. The Boys 15-18 Division saw two players post red numbers on the first day as Jimmy Criscione (Paramus, NJ) and Connor Looney (Ridgefield, CT) each shot (-1) 71’s. Matthew Carlson (Ramsey, NJ), Blake DiPaola (Long Valley, NJ), and Jack Conlon (Hamburg, NJ) all shot (+1) 73’s to stay in contention heading into Sunday’s final round.
Luke Sample (New York, NY) paced the Boys 11-14 Division after first round action by shooting a (+3) 75. Alex Kyriacou (Suffern, NY) was not far behind after carding a (+6) 78. Meghan O’Mara (West Sayville, NY) led the Girls 15-18 Division after coming in with a (+13) 85.
Sunday’s final round saw temperatures decrease on an overcast day but it didn’t put too much of a damper on the competition. Connor Looney stuck it out in the Boys 15-18 Division, shooting a final round (+1) 73 to finish at (E) 144 on the weekend and take first place. Matthew Carlson and Blake DiPaola both matched their first round 73’s to finish T-2.
Alex Kyriacou overtook Luke Sample in the Boys 11-14 Division by posting a final round (+3) 75 compared to Sample’s final round of (+10) 82. Max Sorger (Montclair, NJ) rounded out the top 3 in the division. Meghan O’Mara was out in front over both tournament rounds, duplicating her first round 85 on Sunday to take first place in the Girls 15-18 Division. Marissa Broderick (Bayonne, NJ) and Marisa Fiorina (Oakland, NJ) took second and third place, respectively.
