IGU, Delhi Golf Society team up with IMG JGT for India event
Jaypee Greens hosts 90-player event with top finishers earning US exemptions
Kartik Sharma, Jahanvi Bakshi lead the way at IGU Delhi State NCR Junior Boys & Girls Cup
GREATER NOIDA, India - The IMG Junior Golf Tour teamed up with Indian Golf Union and Delhi Golf Society to sanction the 2017 IGU Delhi State NCR Junior Boys & Girls Cup, held September 5-8 at Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida, India.
90 players competed in three categories for both boys and girls. Champions earned an exemption into the 2017 IMG Academy Junior World Florida Challenge, held December 14-16. In addition, top players earned an invite to the season-ending IMG Junior Golf Tour Championship played May 12-13, 2018 at Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando.
“There is a tremendous opportunity to continue to grow the game in India and we want to contribute to that opportunity in any way we can,” said Andrew Parr, Director of the IMG Junior Golf Tour. “You have players like Anirban Lahiri and Aditi Ashok getting onto the world stage as role models. There are some very strong players and growing interest in the game and we’re excited to give these players additional opportunities to compete at a high level.”
Leading the way in Boys Category A was Kartik Sharma, posting scores of 71-73-72-75 for a four-stroke victory. Jahanvi Bakshi prevailed in Girls Category A, winning by an eight-stroke margin.
